How to Volunteer for A Study

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for one of our studies. Please review the studies listed below and contact Dr. Blackford at Jennifer.Blackford@Vanderbilt.edu to find out more information.

Neuroimaging and Genetic Study of Inhibited Temperament

We are interested in how genes and emotions interact in people that were shy or outgoing as a child. We will ask volunteers to answer some questions about feelings and behaviors. We will ask you to give a small DNA sample from your saliva. After your visit, we ask you to keep a diary of your mood for 10 days.  You may also be invited to participate in a second part of the study which includes an MRI scan. We understand about shyness and will do whatever we can to make your visit comfortable for you.

Participants needed: Healthy adults 18 to 30 years old in one of two groups:
1) People who were outgoing as children, and
2) people who were shy as children.

Compensation: $40

Visits: 1 visit to Vanderbilt University
